VISITOR TIPS

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Saturday mornings in spring and summer — the model yacht club races begin around 10am and the boats are fast enough to surprise anyone who hasn't seen them before.

LOCAL GUIDE INSIDER TIP

The Hans Christian Andersen statue on the west bank has a bronze open book on his lap — visitors have been rubbing the page for so long the text is worn completely smooth. The story depicted is The Ugly Duckling, which is why there's a bronze duckling at his feet.
