It was moved into the park in 1912 to make way for the Maine Monument, and relocated to its current spot on Hernshead, the rocky outcrop on the west shore of the Lake, in 1936. After decades of neglect it was restored in the 1970s and is one of the park's few surviving cast-iron structures.
